WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Some people say that being hypnotised is similar to meditation or deep relaxation. Some say it is like lying in bed somewhere between being awake and falling asleep.  You will find that you will be able to hear what is being said to you and will be aware of what is going on around you but your conscious mind remains in the background, as if listening in on an extension line. 

In the state of hypnosis, your body becomes very relaxed and your mind becomes very focused.  While this is happening your unconscious mind is open to beneficial ideas or thoughts, thus leading the way to positive and lasting change.  Hypnosis enables us to access that part of the mind where our habits and patterns of behaviour are stored so that changes can be made.  Hypnosis is not something that is 'done' to you, it is more a state of mind that your therapist helps you to achieve in order for you both to access and reprogram your unconscious mind. In this altered state of consciousness you increase the ability to imagine and remember, to be creative and to respond to positive suggestion.

Hypnosis is not "The Answer" to all your problems.  It is a tool and a part of our natural inbuilt resources to help us deal with issues in our lives.  For many people it certainly can cure, or at least assist but there are no guarantees and guarantees should ever be stated or implied as it does not suit absolutely everyone.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do people that are hypnotised lose control?
Absolutely not.  In hypnosis, you are perfectly capable of saying no or terminating the hypnosis session.

Can I be made to talk about things that I’d prefer not to?
Absolutely not.  A hypnotist cannot make you say or do anything that you don’t want to say or do.

Hypnosis is a state in which you can gain control.


WHAT IS NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP, a name that encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming.

NLP describes the fundamental dynamics between mind and language and how their interplay affects our body and behaviour.

  • Neuro:-   The Nervous System - relating to our functioning as on euro-physiological system
  • Linguistic:-   Relating to our use of language as descriptions of our thoughts, feelings and sensory abilities.  Our descriptions of these things is our greatest tool to know about them and therefore make changes
  • Programming:-   Relates to programs that may be inferred from our behaviour.  Our behaviour being representative of our own programs

NLP is an approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States in the 1970s. 

It gives us the tools to run our own brain and manage our states, emotions and behaviours.  NLP is a system of alternative therapy, which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and is a set of practical skills and insights that you can use to improve how to communicate with others, to manage your moods and live a more rewarding life.  NLP is a behaviour technique that teaches people how to change or adopt new behaviours as required and to choose mental and physical states of wellbeing.  In effect, it is about knowing what is going on on the inside of oneself and others.

NLP is based on OUTCOME SOLUTIONS using processes that access the unconscious mind.  The unconscious mind represents 90% of the mind, imagine how rich your life could be when you access your unconscious mind.
